Next time you make lettuce wraps, use our Lettuce Wrap Sauce Recipe! With two variations – peanut sauce and spicy teriyaki!
Featured with this recipe
Lettuce wraps are a healthy way to enjoy fresh chicken with nuts and vegetables. These sauces go perfectly with the different components of the chicken lettuce wraps. The teriyaki and ginger compliment the water chestnuts, mushrooms, and ground chicken, and bring so much flavor to the butter lettuce. With little effort, you’ll create three sauces with this recipe. These versatile sauces are for more than just Asian lettuce wraps.
Ingredients in Lettuce Wrap Sauce
- Teriyaki Sauce
- Sweet Chili Sauce
- Soy Sauce
- Fresh Ginger
- Red Pepper Flakes
- Peanut Butter
- Sriracha
Lettuce Wrap Sauce – 3 Ways!
- Classic: combines teriyaki sauce, chili sauce, soy sauce, ginger, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl. This creates a thinner sauce with stronger teriyaki flavors.
- Peanut sauce: combine the same ingredients as the classic sauce, but add peanut butter. This will make the sauce thicker and add some sweetness and nuttiness.
- Spicy teriyaki: mix together the same ingredients as the classic sauce, but add Sriracha. Depending on how much you add, your sauce will be spicy.
Other Uses
Use your sauces in different ways:
- Pour over vegetables in a pan or large skillet and make a stir fry.
- Make fresh spring rolls using rice paper, rice noodles, cucumber, romaine, carrot, and your other favorite ingredients. The peanut sauce would be especially delicious with this one!
- Use as dipping sauce for crispy egg rolls or wontons along with duck sauce and hot mustard.
- Water down and use as a dressing for your favorite Asian inspired salad.
- Marinate and/or cook tofu, chicken, or ground beef.
Recipe Tip
Simmer the sauce for about 5 minutes before separating into bowls and adding mix ins. This allows the sauce to thicken a bit so it doesn’t run out of the lettuce wrap.
Frequently Asked Questions
A huge part of this is the sauce- once you make your sauce, be sure to simmer for 5 minutes to thicken it, which will make sure it doesn’t leak out of the wrap, but also so it doesn’t make the bottom soggy.
