Love Alfredo pasta? Try Alfredo Pizza—creamy sauce, melty cheese, and your favorite toppings baked to perfection!
What is Alfredo Pizza?
Simply put, Alfredo pizza is just like any other pizza but made with a creamy Alfredo sauce rather than a red, tomato-based pizza sauce. Think of it as your favorite fettuccine Alfredo but transformed into a cheesy, crispy, irresistible pizza! Perfect for pasta and pizza lovers alike. Although you can put any kind of toppings on Alfredo pizza, I think toppings that you would typically pair with Alfredo pasta taste best. This would be toppings like chicken, spinach, and broccoli. I also like adding bacon to Alfredo pizza because it almost gives it a Carbonara taste.
Why You Are Going to Love This Recipe
I love this recipe because it is such an easy meal to whip up when you have leftovers. The pizza dough is easy to make and even easier if you already have some refrigerated dough on hand. It’s also the perfect recipe when you have leftover chicken of any kind: grilled, shredded, or even leftover rotisserie chicken.
Ingredients for Alfredo Pizza
Pizza Dough
Our homemade pizza dough makes this pizza extra special, but no shame in grabbing store-bought dough when life gets busy—it’s all about balance! You can get a decent refrigerated pizza dough from Trader Joe’s, Winco, or most grocery stores.
Alfredo Sauce
Our homemade Alfredo sauce with cream cheese is my favorite to use with this recipe because it is really thick and creamy. This is the recipe included in the recipe card below. It includes butter, cream cheese, milk, Parmesan cheese and is seasoned with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. If you want an Alfredo sauce that is lighter and with a little more of a kick, you can try our Healthy Alfredo Sauce recipe.
Cheese
You can go as fancy or as simple as you would like when it comes to the cheese for Alfredo pizza. For most pizzas I love real, fresh mozzarella but since the Alfredo sauce in this recipe is already pretty creamy, I usually opt for the part skim, shredded mozzarella cheese to balance it out. It is nice and melty and won’t make the dough soggy. I also love adding a sprinkling of shredded Parmesan or fresh grated Parmigiano reggiano.
Toppings
Although the sauce if my favorite part of this recipe, the toppings are what really make it fun and unique to your own tastes. Here are some of my favorite toppings for Alfredo pizza:
- Grilled chicken (more on my favorite chicken options below)
- Fresh spinach
- Crispy bacon
The Best Chicken For Alfredo Pizza
For the cooked chicken, my favorite chicken to use is leftover grilled marinated chicken from our Satu’li Bowl recipe. This chicken is marinated in a mixture of canola (or vegetable) oil, apple cider vinegar, garlic, salt, and pepper then grilled to perfection. We will often have the chicken for dinner a night or two before and then we will slice up the leftovers to use on recipes like the Alfredo pizza.
You can also use Rotisserie chicken or leftover shredded chicken. Our Instant Pot chicken breast recipe is prefect for shredding and it cooks up quickly in a pressure cooker. You can also cook diced, seasoned chicken in a skillet until completely cooked through or bake it. Honestly just use whatever leftover chicken you have on hand and it will work great!
Additional and Alternative Topping Ideas
As I mentioned above, if it goes well with Alfredo paste, it will go well on this pizza. Go crazy with the toppings! Here are some more toppings I have tried that have been a hit with my family:
- Marinated artichoke hearts
- Caramelized onions (my personal favorite)
- Sun dried tomatoes
- Fresh broccoli (I like to give it a quick blanch first)
The Honey Badger Variation
I had to make this its own little section because the “honey badger” is my husband’s very favorite kind of Alfredo pizza. The “honey badger” is a pizza they serve at one of our favorite restaurants in Boise called “the Wylder”. After having it there we came home and made our own and it was incredibly good. For this you add a slightly thinner layer of Alfredo sauce, then top with Italian sausage, dollops of fresh ricotta cheese, caramelized onion, and then after it cooks, add a drizzle of Mike’s Hot Honey. It sounds strange but it is absolutely delicious!
What to Serve with Alfredo Pizza
When it comes to pizza you can never go wrong with a side of salad. Our Copycat Olive Garden Salad is my top choice but you can also have it with Caesar Salad or a Chef’s Salad. If you have any leftover Alfredo sauce, serve it on the side along with our breadtwists or our easy breadsticks recipe.
Absolutely! Although I like our homemade Alfredo sauce the best, store-bought Alfredo sauce is a great time-saver and will still work well for this recipe. Look for a high-quality brand with simple, creamy ingredients for the best flavor.
Actually no, they are a little different. Alfredo pizza has a thicker, richer, creamier sauce while white pizza is made with more of a thinner béchamel sauce. A béchamel sauce is made from butter, milk, and flour while Alfredo sauce is typically made from butter, cream, and Parmesan.
Yes! Alfredo Pizza freezes well. For best results, let the pizza cool completely, then wrap individual slices tightly in plastic wrap and place them in a freezer-safe container. To reheat, bake or air fry frozen slices in the oven at 375°F until heated through. Avoid using the microwave, as this can make the crust soggy.

Alfredo Pizza
Equipment
- pizza pan
Ingredients
Alfredo Sauce
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 ounces cream cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese (fresh grated, not the powdery kind)
- sea salt and black pepper to taste
Pizza Toppings
- 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
- 1 cup cooked, diced chicken (see options above)
- 1/2 cup bacon (cooked and crumbled)
- 1-2 cups baby spinach
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- salt and black pepper to taste
- 1/3 cup shredded parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425℉Roll out pizza dough onto a pizza stone or pizza pan. Bake the pizza dough for 5 minutes. Remove from oven (keep the oven on) and set aside.
For the Alfredo Sauce:
- Melt the butter in a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat. Add cream cheese and garlic powder, stirring with a wire whisk until smooth.
- Add milk a little at a time, continue to whisk.
- Stir in Parmesan cheese and salt & pepper. Remove from heat when it gets to the desired consistency. The sauce will thicken rapidly, thin with milk if needed, however, you want the sauce to be on the thicker side to spoon over the pizza.
Assembling the Pizza:
- Spread the Alfredo sauce evenly over the pizza. Use the back of a spoon to help spread the sauce to the outer edges of the dough.
- Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
- Place chicken and crumbled bacon evenly over the pizza.
- Wash spinach and pat dry. In a medium-sized skillet, sauté the spinach in oil until wilted. Season with salt and pepper.
- Place spinach evenly over the pizza.
- Sprinkle remaining mozzarella and parmesan over the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
