Honey Butter is one of those indulgences that I forget about sometimes, but once I whip up a batch I think to myself “I should have this on hand all the time!” Every time I eat at Texas Roadhouse, I’m reminded of why that Texas Roadhouse butter is so good on their rolls. So yummy! This honey butter recipe is so easy to make and makes even a boring slice of morning toast taste like a treat. And with just three ingredients, it comes together quickly without any mess.
Ingredients in Homemade Honey Butter
All you need to make this recipe are three ingredients and a mixing bowl:
- Butter – half a cup, or one cube, softened
- Vanilla extract – a quarter teaspoon
- Honey – half a cup
That’s it! This easy honey butter recipe is so easy to double or triple depending on how many you’re feeding. Read on for tips on how to make this the lightest, fluffiest topping ever! It can be easily doubled (or tripled) depending on how much you want to serve.
How to Make Light, Fluffy Honey Butter
- I like to use sweet, salted butter for this recipe. It adds another level of flavor as you whip it up. However if you only have unsalted butter on hand, use it! You could even toss in a pinch of sea salt if you feel it needs it.
- Make sure your butter is at room temperature! This is very important to ensure a creamy, fluffy texture. Room temperature butter mixes so well and won’t be lumpy or chunky.
- Mix the butter and vanilla together first. Then slowly incorporate your honey. If it seems to be separating a bit, keep whipping it until it’s fully incorporated together.
- Use a hand mixer, electric mixer, or stand mixer for the fluffiest results. Make sure to scrape the sides of the bowl with a spatula occasionally.
Make a Cinnamon Honey Butter Recipe
It’s easy to dress this honey butter recipe up all sorts of ways. One popular flavor is cinnamon. Make cinnamon butter by adding a dash or a teaspoon ground cinnamon, and then, using the whisk attachment or paddle attachment of your mixer, whip the butter on medium speed ’til it’s nice and fluffy. Store in a glass jar in the fridge.
What to Serve with Honey Butter
- Jazz up any regular slice of homemade bread, English muffins or dinner rolls with a dollop of this whipped honey butter.

I thought raw egg yolk was a no no ? Is it necessary for the recipe or could you leave it out?
You can leave it out if it makes you nervous!
