As a food blogger, I find myself at the grocery store all the time, sometimes multiple times a day. For this reason, it is extremely helpful and time-saving when I can find everything I need in one place. I was thrilled when Albertsons invited me to their grand opening on Broadway in Boise. It is everything I need in a grocery store and MUCH more!

Albertsons on Broadway in Boise, Idaho is a new type of Albertsons store. One that curates an experience within each area of the store. Here my top 10 favorite things I discovered at our new favorite store (in no particular order):

10. The Prepared Food Section

When you first walk into the Albertsons on Broadway, you are met with a variety of prepared food choices that are all the best of the best. All of these meals are prepared fresh by on-site chefs. Deciding what to get will be the most difficult thing you do all day. You will find everything from brick fired pizzas, to a burger bar, to fresh sushi, to ramen bowls, to sandwiches, to tacos. You can order something different for every member of the family and enjoy it right there in the store or take it home to enjoy.

9. The Bakery

The bakery had some of the most exquisite pastries and cakes that I have ever seen. The best part? They were all super affordable. They had a full cheesecake with fresh berries and mint leaves that was only about $10. It would cost more to make that from scratch! Oh and did I mention they offer fresh, HOT cookies ALL DAY, EVERY day? In addition to every kind of bread you can imagine, you can also find doughnuts, caramel apples, popcorn and chocolates made daily by an in-house chocolatier.

8. Gelato, Ice Cream, and Soft Serve Frozen Yogurt

Right next to the bakery, they have a counter with all sorts of tasty, cold treats. You can get 24 varieties of gelato and 12 rotating varieties of soft-serve frozen yogurt every single day at the Albertsons on Broadway. You can also create an ice cream cookie sandwich with any combination of cookie and ice cream/gelato!

7. Seafood

In the seafood section there are over 80 different items for sale every day. You can get a variety of local seafood as well as seafood products from around the globe. You will find seasonal wild fish displayed fresh in this section and it is delicious. I sampled the sea bass and I loved it! I also found perfect ingredients for our Thai Fish Tacos and our delicious Cajun Shrimp Foil Packets.

6. Meat

First of all, the sausage is made fresh daily by an expert sausage maker, featuring 25 different kinds! You can find a variety of organic and grass-fed local beef perfect for our Blue Cheese Bacon Burger and our Best Meatloaf Recipe. You will also find local pork and lamb. Smoked meats like bacon, ham, and salmon can be found in this section as well as in-house dry-aged beef. All meats can be vacuum sealed for customers.

5. General Merchandise

In the store there is over 100 feet of Living Well products. Ten local vendors showcase their specialty soaps and creams made with goat milk or honey. The home section features all of the home goods normally carried by Albertsons with additional seasonal displays of home decoration and cooking essentials. This comes in very handy for home cooks (and food bloggers).

4. Deli

The deli at the Albertsons on Broadway is AMAZING! It provides not only fresh cut meats and cheeses but also made-to-order sandwiches and ready made side-dishes. All the meats are in-house roasted and smoked. You can find roast beef, ham, turkey, pork shoulder and brisket. The full service specialty cheese department is one of the largest in the Treasure Valley with 300 varieties of cheeses to choose from. This department also offers house-prepared hand-stretched Mozzarella, offered fresh or in a variety of marinades.

3. Produce

Best. Produce. Section. EVER. Here are the highlights:

• Expanded Organic Section- Summer organic fruit and vegetables are available all year round!
• Bulk Food Assortment- You can grind your own fresh peanut butter and get fresh local honey in bulk.
• Unique Specialty Items- This store will also be a destination for Hispanic, Asian, Italian, and seasonal produce items.
• In Season LOCAL Produce- Boise supports local growers by offering the following local products: Boise Blue Cheese Dressing, Good Vibe & Idaho Kombucha, local Hydro Butter Lettuce, Liberty Tomato Company, and Everything Potatoes

2. Floral

Ok, I may be biased here but Albertsons on Broadway has my favorite floral section of any store anywhere. This is mostly due to the fact that most of the arrangements are designed by the one-and-only Debi Lilly, an award-winning, nationally acclaimed floral designer. She has become a friend of mine and I adore her and everything that she does.

Because all the flowers are locally grown here in Idaho, you will be able to find custom floral creations at all price points. The arrangements and home-decor items that Debi Lilly created for the Albertsons on Broadway are second-to-none. You will be blown away not only by the gorgeous arrangements but also by the affordable price.

1. Grocery

The grocery section is a home cook’s paradise! Albertsons on Broadway has the largest selection of international products and cooking ingredients all located in one aisle. Whether you’re cooking Hispanic, Eastern European, Kosher, Italian, Indian, Asian, or even Basque (all Basque items are coming from the Boise Basque Market with partnership from local owners) foods, you will be sure to find any ingredient you may need. Albertsons on Broadway also provides over 335 LOCAL items from over 20 local vendors, which I absolutely love.
