What Is A Tigger Tail?

Tigger Tails are a classic Disney snack that is found at Pooh’s Corner at Disneyland. A Tigger Tail is a stack of marshmallows on a candy stick that is dipped in caramel, then white chocolate, then rolled in sanding sugar and drizzled in dark chocolate. It looks just like Tigger’s tail from the Winnie The Pooh movies! They are sweet, sugary, caramel-y, and absolutely delicious. A perfect “Tigger-riffic” treat for a fun-filled day at Disneyland.

Where To Find Tigger Tails

As mentioned above, you can find Tigger Tails at Pooh’s Corner in Critter Country at the back corner of Frontierland in Disneyland. It is at the exit of Splash Mountain to your left as you get off the ride. It has become a tradition of ours to ride Splash Mountain, then immediately make our way to Pooh’s Corner for a Tigger Tail and a few other tasty treats. If you can’t make your way to Critter Country, the next best thing you can do it make these fun-fun-fun-fun-fun treats at home.

Ingredients needed for Tigger Tails

  • Marshmallows – Any regular-sized, plain marshmallow will do.
  • Kraft Caramel Bits – I love using these because I don’t like unwrapping the plastic from regular melting caramels. It is worth the extra few cents to use the melting bits and not have to deal with unwrapping. Wrapped caramels CAN be used, just be sure to melt them according to specific package instructions.
  • White Chocolate Melting Wafers – I used the Ghirardelli brand because that is what was available but you can use any brand you like.
  • Sanding Sugar – I like using this CK sanding sugar from Amazon. You can get a whole pound for under $14, which is a great deal since little 4-oz. jars of sanding sugar can be $4-$6 each and you may need a couple to cover your Tigger Tails. Also, orange sugar is HARD to find, especially this vibrant orange color. This big bag will easily make several batches of Tigger Tails and you will still probably have some left over.
  • Dark Chocolate Chips – Perfect for Tigger’s stripes!

Sanding Sugar or Orange (White) Chocolate?

Disney has gone back and forth with making Tigger Tails with sanding sugar/sprinkles or just dipping them in orange-colored chocolate and leaving the sugar layer off. We are definitely team “sanding sugar” because it gives them a great texture, and let’s be honest, it just adds another layer of delicious sweetness. When we have had them without the sanding sugar it just feels like something is missing. If you are a fan of the orange chocolate with no sprinkles, simply mix in some orange food coloring to the melted white chocolate and skip the sanding sugar step.

Tips For Making Tigger Tails

  • For dipping, use wide-mouth quart-sized jars. You can easily get the sticks inside and roll them in the caramel or white chocolate coating. You can tilt it to the side and rotate the jar around to get even coverage.

  • Don’t let the caramel get too hot… it will melt your mallows. I know this from experience. Also, let them cool completely before moving to the next step.
  • Don’t let the white chocolate get too hot either. You want it to be just barely melted so you can get a nice, thick, coating. Shake off the excess chocolate before rolling in the sanding sugar so you don’t get big clumps.
  • To store, refrigerate in an air-tight container and separate layers of Tigger with wax paper or parchment.
