This Blue Cheese Sauce recipe originally appeared on our recipe for Fancy Filet Mignon. Imagine a thick, juicy steak topped with a balsamic glaze, sauteed onions and mushrooms, and this creamy, cheesy, tangy sauce. YUM! However, it is so delicious and can be used for so many other things that we decided to give it a post of its own. This sauce comes together in minutes with just a few ingredients.

Ingredients in Blue Cheese Sauce

  • Mayonnaise – Best Foods or Hellman’s will have the best flavor
  • Sour Cream
  • Worcestershire Sauce – don’t skip this ingredient because it gives the sauce a deeper umami flavor.
  • Blue Cheese – you might think that all blue cheese is the same, but the texture of your sauce depends on the variety of blue cheese that you use. For a chunkier sauce, use Danish Blue or Roquefort. For a creamier sauce use a more melty variety like Stilton or Gorgonzola.
