Ingredients to Dip your Favorite Doritos

This is a simple dip with only 6 ingredients. There are a few new ingredients in this dip that makes it stand out in the crowd. Instead of using cream cheese or sour cream as a base, we are using cottage cheese. This blend with the nacho cheese Dorito chips are the perfect combination. You Doritos will be thanking you!

  • Cottage cheese – The base of the dip is thick and rich with cottage cheese. Cottage cheese has a slight bit of salt taste that works perfectly with the Doritos flavoring.
  • Tomatoes – Fresh tomatoes are best but you can use a can of tomatoes if that is quicker for you.
  • Avocados – It is best to have a soft avocado that is easy to slice and ripe but not too ripe.
  • Corn – I used canned corn for this recipe. I would not recommend using frozen corn since it will thaw and change the texture of the dip.
  • Green onions – Add a bit of a crunch and spice.
  • Garlic powder – Perfect seasoning for flavoring.
  • For extra spicy punch add a dash of Tabasco sauce or a teaspoon of chili powder.

What Type of Doritos to Dip

This dip works great with any kind of Doritos but our favorite type to dip is the Nacho Cheesier Doritos or Spicy Nacho Doritos. It also goes well with the Cool Ranch Doritos and the Salsa Verde Doritos. Add these Doritos to your groceries!

Use this Dip for Doritos… and MORE!

If you’re not really a Dorito chip person you can try this creamy dip for all sorts of your favorite foods:

  • Regular tortilla chips
  • Crackers
  • Pretzels
  • Raw veggies like carrots, broccoli, celery, cauliflower, etc.

Add-Ins and Substitutions for this Recipe

The best part about making your own homemade dip is there are no artificial color or artificial flavors. And there are all kinds of ways to switch things up for a big game day event or any other occasion:

  • Cottage cheese can be replaced with a greek yogurt, cream cheese, or sour cream for this dip. This will alter the taste as well as the texture of the dip though. It will be more creamy using a substitution.
  • Add in a cup bacon bits! Additional bacon bits will add a little texture and deliciousness. Everyone loves bacon!
  • Cheddar cheese is always a great addition as well as a Mexican blend if you are wanting to add in a little heat to the dip.
  • Try Romano cheese mixed in with the cottage cheese for a twist. It kind of gives it a pizza flavor.
  • Dice jalapeno peppers into the dip to make things extra spicy. Cool ranch jalapeno is a flavor combination everyone should try!
  • Seasoning and spices changes can be dried dill, parsley, or onion powder instead of garlic powder.

Recipe Tips

This is so simple to throw together for your next get together, party, potluck, or even a game day! These are some easy pantry staple ingredients that will help you create the best dip that everyone will enjoy.

  • Make sure to stir the ingredients together without over blending and smashing the cottage cheese.
  • Use a food processor to help blend together evenly and smoothly.
  • Mix with guacamole, beans, and lettuce for a delicious and hearty dip for your Doritos.

Can I use canned tomatoes for the Dorito dip since tomatoes are not in season right now in Alabama and I really don’t like the taste of store bought one’s
