Ingredients You’ll Need For the Cookies

Most of these ingredients are probably in your pantry already. The star of the show, of course, is the Mini Cadbury Eggs!

  • All-purpose flour – Provides structure for the perfect chewy texture.
  • Baking soda – Helps the cookies rise just enough.
  • Salt – Balances the sweetness and enhances flavor.
  • Unsalted butter, softened – Adds richness and creaminess.
  • Light brown sugar, packed – For that soft, chewy bite.
  • Granulated sugar – Adds just the right amount of crispiness.
  • Large eggs – Binds the dough together.
  • Pure vanilla extract – For a warm, comforting flavor.
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips – Because more chocolate is always better.
  • Mini Cadbury Eggs – Some whole for topping, some crushed and mixed into the dough.

How to Make Cadbury Egg Cookies

  1. Dry ingredients – In a medium bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Cream – In a separate bowl blend butter, sugars, and vanilla with a mixer until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time. Beat well.
  3. Combine – Gradually add dry ingredients until just combined. Don’t overbeat. If using a stand mixer, you will want to use the paddle attachment when mixing in the flour. Stir in chocolate chips.
  4. Scoop – Drop the rounded teaspoon onto an ungreased cookie sheet lined with a baking sheet or parchment paper. Place 3 to 4 mini Cadbury eggs on each cookie round.
  5. Bake – Place the prepared baking sheet in the preheated oven. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 9 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and cool cookies on a cooling rack.

Tips and Variations

  • Extra Cadbury –You can add chopped or crushed Cadbury mini eggs into the dough as you are forming the cookie dough balls and have little hidden surprises on each cookie.
  • Chocolate chips – White chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, semi-sweet chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, or butterscotch chips can be used in place of, or in addition to, milk chocolate chips.
  • Cookie scoop – Use a rounded tablespoon or medium cookie scoop to form the cookie dough into balls for a larger cookie.
  • Chocolate cookie – Add a quarter cup of cocoa powder to the cookie dough for an extra chocolatey and gooey cookie.
  • Wire rack – Place the baked cookies on a wire rack to finish cooling.

Questions About Cadbury Egg Cookies

How do you keep Cadbury Egg Cookies soft?

Store them in an airtight container with a slice of bread to retain moisture and keep the cookies soft for days.

Do Cadbury Mini Eggs melt in the oven?

They hold their shape well due to the candy shell, but the chocolate inside will get wonderfully melty.

Why did my Cadbury Egg Cookies spread too much?

This could be due to overly soft butter or warm dough. Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking to prevent excessive spreading.

Can I make Cadbury Egg Cookies gluten-free?

Yes! Simply substitute the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free 1:1 baking flour blend. Make sure the blend contains xanthan gum for the best texture. Also, double-check that all other ingredients, like chocolate chips, are certified gluten-free.

Can I use other types of Cadbury Eggs?

Mini Cadbury Eggs work best, but you can chop larger ones into smaller pieces if needed.

How to Store Cadbury Egg Cookies

  • Room temperature: Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
  • Freezing the dough: Freeze cookie dough balls on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer bag for up to 3 months.
  • Freezing baked cookies: Let them cool completely, then freeze in a single layer before transferring to a container. They’ll stay fresh for up to 3 months.

Make-Ahead Tip

  • You can make the dough ahead of time and refrigerate it for up to 3 days before baking. This also helps the flavors develop even more!

Cadbury eggs are my favorite! These cookies were a huge hit over here. My kids had a ton of fun making them! Thank you for the recipe.

I didn’t think I could love Cadbury eggs more, but you proved me wrong. These cookies are the bomb! I’m going to have to stock up on Cadbury eggs so I can make them all year long. 🙂

These cookies are amazing! I did lessen the sugar to 1/2 cup instead of 3/4cup. And it tasted great. I could even lessen the sugar a bit more next time. I also incorporated the mini eggs into the batter 🙂

Pretty great Easter cookie recipe! I would recommend maybe a bit less flour as mine came out like a shortbread cookie rather than a moist chocolate chip cookie. Though it was still really great and didn’t even last a day in the house.

  6. This recipe was not great, dry and cakey and followed everything to a T ensuring not to over beat or over bake.
Also the mini eggs loose their flavour when baked in the oven for some reason, would maybe find a way to put them on after?

    1. Sorry this recipe did not work out for you! Cookie recipes can be tricky because a lot of it depends on altitude, oven type, and brand of ingredients. We hope you’ll give some of our other recipes a try!

Made these today and they are yummy! Very sweet. Cut the flour by about 1/4-1/2 cup as per another reviewers recommendation and the cookies were buttery and not dry, they flatten quite a bit and brown on the edges for a crunchy edge, chewy middle. 1-3 mini eggs per cookie is plenty.

  8. 4 stars
These cookie were tasty, but really, really dry. I would almost cut the flour in half if you want a more moist cookie. Also, you probably get closer to 30 cookies, and HAVE to cook them about 15 mins, not the initial 8-9 as stated in the recipe!

    1. I got a whopping 68 cookies!!! Some are smaller and some are bigger, cooked between 6 and 7 minutes. Not dry at all

Cabury egg cookies we can enjoy any days. My kids will love it, This cookie is best not only during Easter any time of year.

These cookies are very good, but you can’t get 5mini eggs on one tsp of dough. Also, I bought 2x10oz packages of eggs and used every one -3 to a cookie!

What kind of mixer is that? I love it and want one!! Not as cumbersome as my kitchenaid, and I love that you can use it without the lid. Anyone know who makes it??

I liked this recipe but I found the cookies were a bit dry. So I added way more chocolate chip cookies.

I was also able to make 60 plus cookies with this exact recipe
