Melt-in-Your-Mouth Crock Pot Pork Chops

This isn’t just another crock pot pork chop recipe; it’s a taste of family history. Passed down from our great-grandpa to my mom, and now to you. This recipe is perfect for anyone looking for a simple, flavorful meal. The pork chops slow cook to perfection in a rich, savory gravy and practically melt in your mouth. And the best part? It is so fast to throw together, yet it tastes like you’ve spent hours making it. It’s the kind of comfort food your family will ask for again and again, and you’ll be happy to oblige!

My mom has fond memories of her college days, when she’d visit my great-grandpa and he’d have these incredible pork chops waiting. His original recipe called for two cans of cream of mushroom soup. Personally, I’ve found that using one can of cream of chicken and one can cream of mushroom adds a brighter dimension to the gravy. But honestly, you can’t go wrong with either option. Remember, no need to add water – use the soup straight from the can.

Ingredients for Easy Crock Pot Pork Chops

With only 4 ingredients and 5-minutes of prep, this pork chops in the crock pot recipe is a lifesaver on hectic days.

  • Pork Chops: You can use boneless or bone-in pork chops for this recipe.
  • Ranch Seasoning Salad Dressing and Recipe Mix: I prefer the Hidden Valley brand seasoning mix.
  • Cream of Chicken Soup: The Campbell’s brand is my go to when making this recipe. When I don’t have it on hand, I make my own cream of chicken soup recipe.
  • Cream of Mushroom Soup: For a quick and convenient meal, Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom is what I use. When I have more time, and want more mushrooms in the gravy, I make my own cream of mushroom soup recipe.

Gravy Tip:

To cut down on the salt content or to simply reduce the sodium in the gravy for this recipe, use low-sodium cream soups. You can also make your own cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soups and control the amount of salt.

How to Make Tender Crock Pot Pork Chops

  1. Prepare the Crock Pot: Use a slow cooker liner or spray the inside of the crockpot with baking spray for easier clean up.
  2. Add Seasoning: Place the pork chops in the Crock Pot. Sprinkle the ranch seasoning mix evenly over each pork chop front and back.
  3. Combine the Soups: In a separate bowl, combine the two cream soups and mix well. I prefer cream of mushroom and cream of chicken, but cream of celery can also be used in the combination. Pour the soup mixture evenly over the pork chops. You don’t need to stir it.
  4. Set the CrockPot: Place the lid on the Crock Pot. I recommend cooking on the low setting for around 6 hours. The pork chops are fully cooked at this point, and the most tender.

Substitutions and Additions

Cream Soup Substitutions. You can adjust the flavors of the gravy according to the type of cream soup you use. Cream of Celery or Cream of Onion can be substituted for either cream soup in the recipe, or you can use two of the same flavor.

Type of Pork Chop. We usually use thin boneless pork chops for this Crockpot pork chops recipe, but you can also use bone-in chops. If you use a thicker chop, make sure to adjust the cooking time.

Frozen Pork Chops. Thaw pork chops before using them in this recipe. According to the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture), frozen foods can take too long to reach a safe internal temperature in a slow cooker. This can result in food borne illnesses – and no one wants that!

Chicken Instead of Pork. Boneless, skinless chicken breasts can be used in place of the pork chops. Serve the chicken breasts whole, or shred the chicken into the gravy and serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta.

Seasonings. The packet of ranch dressing mix contains plenty of seasonings, but feel free to add fresh herbs, sautéed onions, minced garlic, garlic powder, or pepper to suit your tastes.

What to Serve with Crock Pot Pork Chops

These slow cooker pork chops with creamy gravy is delicious served over mashed potatoes. You literally don’t have to do anything extra to make the gravy. Once the pork chops are done, you can just use a slotted spoon or tongs to get the pork out of the crockpot and use whatever remains as gravy. My go-to meal is serving the pork chops and gravy with mashed potatoes and a side of steamed vegetables. The creamy gravy is also delicious over rice or egg noodles.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you keep pork from drying out in a crock pot?

We have a few tips for moist, tender pork chops. First, coat the pork chops in the seasonings before placing them in the crockpot. Next, make sure the pork chops are covered with the soup mixture. Lastly, cook them on low until they reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees. This should take approximately 6-7 hours with most slow cookers.

Do I add water or milk to the canned soup or JUST use the soup?

You do not need to add any water or milk. Do not follow the instructions on the can. You only use the condensed soup.

Can I use chicken instead of pork?

Yes, chicken can be used instead of pork. The flavor and texture will be a little different (because you are using a completely different kind of meat) but it will still taste great!

Can I use bone-in pork chops for this recipe?

Bone-in pork chops work great in this crock pot pork chops recipe. You don’t need to adjust the cooking time or temperature. I find that center cut, bone-in pork chops are a little more moist and tender when used with this recipe.

Can I make this recipe without ranch seasoning?

This recipe can be made without the ranch seasoning. If you don’t like the taste of ranch or don’t have it on hand, I recommend substituting other seasonings. Fresh or dried herbs along with garlic powder and onion powder will add flavor to the slow cooker pork chops.

These crock-pot pork chops were so delicious! They were enjoyed by all. Adding this to the monthly meal rotation.

This is such a quick and easy recipe. No matter what size chops you have it will work. I usually make this for two people. I only use one can of soup but I add half a can of milk. Oh and using cream of chicken with herbs if you can find it is delish(I hate mushrooms). I have used thick and thin chops with this. With the thicker chops I recommend using a mallot with them to tenderize and make a little thinner to cook(which is what I do). I usually put the ranch seasoning on and use the mallot to tenderize(put in a plastic bag so the raw juices don’t go all over your kitchen)and then put some more ranch seasoning on when I put in the crockpot. No matter what this recipe is great! Side note….I have put frozen chops in the crockpot(forgot to thaw them the night before) and it still turns out great. Just make sure you give them extra cooking time like 10hrs. My co-worker does this also. Hope this helps.

    1. I have frozen chicken breast for this recipe can I just follow the same recipe? And how long do you think I should cook it?

      1. I haven’t tried it that way before, but I can’t see why not! Let me know how it turns out if you do try it!

    2. I am going to try this recipe tonight for my family. Can rice be added underneath the pork chops? How much
Iiquid would need to be added? My mom states my dad used to cook pork chops and spread mustard on both sides and it was delicious. Would this recipe be ok to do that? Appreciate your feedback .

      1. Hey, sorry we are just getting back to you! We haven’t tried those variations so I’m not sure how it would turn out! What did you end up doing?

  3. I have 1 1/4” (thick) pork chops so how long should I cook them in the crock pot? Can’t wait to make them!

Also tender rise them with a mallot. That is what I did. It also makes them thinner to cook quicker. I put the ranch seasoning on them and then I pounded then a bit thinner. Then put on more of the ranch seasoning. They turned out so good.

Like everyone said it was indeed delicious. I used cream of chicken and cream of broccoli soup. My daughter does not like mushrooms.

  5. I really dislike mushrooms, they make me nauseous when I eat them. Is there a substitute for the can or can I double the cream of chicken, the Recipe LOOKS delicious and I really want to try it.

    1. Yes you can double the cream of chicken! I make it that way for guests who don’t like mushrooms.

    2. Try cream of chicken with herbs…it really makes a difference. That is all I buy when I can find it.

Made this for the first time this evening. My parents and kids loved it. My parents kept repeating “delicious”. My son went for seconds. Fast, easy and great flavor.

  7. I would really appreciate a picture to go with the recipe when printing it out. I’m more likely to make it later down the road when I have forgotten what it looks like.

    1. Yes, we used thawed pork chops for this recipe! Cooking frozen meat in the slow cooker can be dangerous because it takes too long to get to a “safe” temperature.

    2. I have cooked frozen meat right out of the freezer before and it turns out fabulous. A co-worker of mine does it also. We usually cook the dish about 10 hrs. We put the frozen meat in with all the seasonings before we go to work and by the time dinner comes it is done perfect.

Added baby potatoes sliced in half, my chops have been really juicy as the sauce was runny, so I thickened to make it gravy like. Thanks

          1. It will change the flavor profile, but I think texture-wise it should be okay.

Love this recipe. So glad I found again. I had copied it before but never can find it. So glad it was on here when I looked for it. Thank you so much.

I love experimenting with recipes. Instead of spraying my crockpot, I greased it with Country Crock margarine and added carrots, onions, and small potatoes. Cooked on low for 8 hours. It was fabulous!

These are the best pork chops. I sear mine a little bit. I am serving these tonight for a dinner party.
I’m sure they will love them as much as we do.
    Thank you

6 hours on low was perfect for me unless you are cooking veggies like carrots in it or your pork chops are bone in
