This Cream Cheese Fruit Dip is one of the most popular dessert dishes I take to family gatherings, baby showers, bridal showers, or church functions. Something about sweet whipped cream cheese makes any fruit just taste better! Kids love this as an after school snack too. Easy to put together, this marshmallow cream cheese fruit dip is sure to become your go-to treat to take to dinners, family picnics, or just an afternoon pick-me-up snack.
Ingredients in Cream Cheese Fruit Dip
This easy fruit dip recipe comes together with just a few simple ingredients. Nothing fancy, just tasty. All you need is a large bowl and these easy ingredients:
- Cream cheese – one 8-ounce package of full-fat cream cheese, softened to room temperature. You an also add greek yogurt to the mixture for more of a yogurt fruit dip.
- Marshmallow creme – 7 ounces fluffy marshmallow cream
- Frozen orange juice concentrate – just a couple of tablespoons adds a beautiful citrusy flavor to that rich cream cheese
- Orange zest – (optional) one tablespoon of grated orange zest adds a gorgeous color to the fruit dip.
- You can also add a dash of lemon juice for added fresh flavor that really complements the fruit.
- Favorite fresh fruit
- Additional garnishes: sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, dash of cinnamon, splash of vanilla, or a dollop of cool whip.
Fresh Fruit Ideas
This fresh fruit dip is smooth and creamy with a hint of citrus. It complements the flavor of every kind of fruit. These are some of our favorite fruits to use with this dip. Fresh fruit, in season and bought locally, is always the best. Even the best fruit dip can’t compensate for fruit that isn’t ripe. You can choose just one fruit to serve it with, or you can fill platters with lots of different kinds of fruit, kind of like a fruit charcuterie board!
- Apples
- Bananas
- Orange wedges
- Strawberries
- Pineapple
- Kiwifruit
- Grapes
- Watermelon
- Cantaloupe
- Honeydew
- Peaches
- Pears
- Cherries

Tips for Easy Cream Cheese Fruit Dip
This Easy Fruit Dip is always a hit at potlucks, parties, and for an after school snack. It’s a great way to entice kids to eat more fruit. A little creamy sweetness goes a long way to enhance the natural flavors of the fruit.
We have a few tips for making this Easy Cream Cheese Fruit Dip.
- First, and most importantly, soften the cream cheese. This makes all the difference. See our 3 methods below.
- Second, make the fruit dip at least one hour prior to serving to bring out the citrus flavors in the dip.
- Third, store the dip in an airtight container in the fridge, separate from the fruit, for up to a week.
- Last of all, serve this dip with fresh, seasonal fruit.
How to Soften Cream Cheese – 3 methods
It is very important to make sure the cream cheese is at room temperature when making the dip. If you use it straight from the refrigerator, no matter how long it is beaten there will still be little lumps. No one wants lumps in their fruit dip! There are a few methods I like to use for bringing cream cheese to room temperature depending on how much time I have.
- The first method is to simply set the cream cheese out on the counter for 30 minutes to an hour in its original packaging. It shouldn’t be left out much longer than an hour.
- The second method is a hot water bath. Fill a bowl with hot tap water and place the cream cheese, still wrapped in foil, in the bowl for 5-10 minutes to bring it to room temperature. If the foil has been opened, place the cream cheese in a resealable plastic bag before placing it in the water bath.
- The third method is to soften it in the microwave. This is my least preferred method because it can melt and overcook. Most microwaves have a “soften” setting. If not, cut 8 ounces of cream cheese in cubes and microwave on high for 15-20 seconds. Stir. If not softened to the desired consistency, continue to microwave at 10 second increments until completely softened. This recipe makes approximately 2 cups of dip.
Make Ahead of Time
In order to get the best flavor from this fruit dip, give it some time in the refrigerator. The addition of the orange juice concentrate is what makes this dip so good. A minimum of one hour will give the citrus flavors a chance to permeate through the dip. Making the dip a few hours, or even a day, ahead will give it even more flavor.
The dip is great to make ahead of time, but the fruit tray itself is best made the day you are serving. Wash, peel, cut and prepare the fresh fruit the day you are serving it.
Frequently Asked Questions
We love our recipe of cream cheese, marshmallow fluff, and some citrus flavors to enhance the fruit. But you could add cool whip, greek yogurt, maraschino cherry juice, cinnamon, or lime juice.
Yes, this is a great make ahead dip. You can make and freeze it ahead of time. Allow it to thaw in the refrigerator until it’s ready to serve.
Generally speaking, cream-based dips or recipes should only sit out about two hours, but any longer than that, it needs to be refrigerated.
This dip will last for a week in the fridge. Store it in an airtight container, and be sure to stir it well before serving again for a nice, smooth texture.

This is so good! I could eat it with a spoon! the perfect fruit dip for sure
I also use this but add in 1 8oz container of cool whip, you’ll never go back to not putting it in.
The recipe with cool whip sounds good but can you still taste the cream cheese as much?
It has a little tang to it, but it isn’t super cream-cheesy. You can always add more cool whip if you want to dilute the cream cheese flavor.
I’ve made this same dip….but I also add one tub of cool whip, makes it extra creamy.
Orange juice is a great addition!
I tried this dip at a wedding , I had to have the recipe , 8 oz. creme cheese at room temp. 8 oz. of marshmallow creme and 1 cup of powdered sugar. mix and serve with grapes, blueberries, Mandarin oranges, kiwi. soooooo ! yummy.

Delicious! Can the dip be frozen, thawed and maintain the flavor and smoothness?
Probably not. My experience has been that cream cheese does not freeze well. It will last in the fridge for up to a week though.

How much of the cream cheese do you need to make dip and how much do you need of the marshmellow fluff Thank u im trying to get this info before my daughters baby shower on feb 2nd thks
Amounts are stated in the ingredients list.
How do you get the 2 tablespoons of frozen orange juice concentrate?
I buy the frozen concentrate in cans and take the 2 tablespoons out and then put the rest in a tupperware.
7 oz of fluff, 8 oz of cream cheese or one bar.
It’s the best fruit dip for all fruits
You must be from New England..lol. here in the south we call it marshmallow cream😃
They sell Fluff in Publix. It is a New England thing. We make Fluffanutters with it. Lol
Comes in a jar and is usually near the ice cream section with other toppings. Made by Kraft.
Actually I just bought some today. It’s Kraft Jet Puffed Marshmallow Creme. It was near the marshmallows on the baking aisle. It is often found with the ice cream toppings as well
You can find it in same area as marshmallows. It’s in a 7 or 8oz plastic jar. Kraft makes it.
Jet puff Marshmallow cream, it’s marshmallows in a jar!
Marshmallow cream is sometimes called Marshmallow Fluff. It is in a jar with the bagged marshmallows. Kraft makes it.
Marshmallow fluff is not cream. Its texture is much different. While in Ca my Mom mailed fluff to my kids because it was a North East product. Cream will make a very messy fluff peanut butter sandwich as it is a loose cream It could mean the difference in texture of your dessert.
It’s marshmallows turned into a cream. It comes in a jar and you should be able to find it near the marshmallows or in the baking isle at the grocery store. There are also recipes online where you can make it yourself with marshmallows and a few other ingredients… Hope that helps!
I made this for my baby shower and EVERYONE loved it. Even was asked by a few for the recipe and to make it again..lol. THANK you! I did modify this a bit and used Tropicana orange juice because I didn’t have the concentrate. Either way it was great! Thank you!
