I am completely in love with Thai Chicken Pizza! Whenever we eat at California Pizza Kitchen, it’s the first thing I order. Sadly, we don’t live near a CPK anymore, but this Thai chicken pizza recipe tastes JUST like the original. From the peanut sauce to the tender chicken, to the homemade pizza crust, you are going to love this easy Thai chicken pizza!
Ingredients for Homemade Thai Peanut Sauce
Spice up your next pizza night with this recipe! The Thai peanut sauce is to die for and we always use our homemade pizza crust, which could not be easier.
- Chicken broth – half a cup
- Garlic – start with four large cloves, pressed or minced
- Creamy peanut butter – six heaping tablespoons of your favorite brand.
- Soy sauce – another six tablespoons
- Honey – three tablespoons. You could also add a teaspoon of brown sugar if you want it a bit sweeter.
- Ginger – three tablespoons of freshly minced ginger. You can buy ginger root at the grocery store and store it in the freezer for several months.
- Sriracha chili sauce – start with two teaspoons and keep adding until it’s as spicy as you like it.
For the Thai Pizza Toppings
- Chicken breasts – you’ll need about two large pieces of cooked chicken to cut up into cubes.
- House of Tsang Peanut Sauce – You’ll use this to marinate the chicken. This sauce is incredible and gives the chicken such a deep, spicy flavor!
- Mozzarella cheese – Shredded
- Carrots – about half a cup, julienned or shredded
- Bean sprouts – half cup. You can find these in the produce section of the grocery store
- Peanuts – I like to use unsalted for this recipe so the salt doesn’t overpower the rest of the flavors.
- Fresh cilantro – chop up half a cup, or more if desired.
- Green onion – diced
Optional Toppings
Feel free to add or take off any toppings you like! My family hates bean sprouts, so I only use a few on my own part of the pizza. But you can also try:
- Veggies – Green peppers and red bell pepper, red or purple onions, mushrooms
- Spicy – Red pepper flakes, sriracha sauce,
- Herbs – Fresh basil
- Lime juice – just a sprinkling over the top gives the pizza a vibrant, fresh taste.
- Dash of Vinegar
- Nuts – Cashews
How to Make Thai Chicken Pizza at Home
- Marinate the chicken in the House of Tsang peanut sauce while preparing the rest of the pizza.
- In a small saucepan, stir together all the sauce ingredients and let simmer on low heat.
- Grill the chicken (discarding excess marinade), then cut into thin slices.
- Make the pizza crust according to directions then top with cheese, peanut sauce (that you just prepared) grilled chicken slices, carrots, bean sprouts, peanuts, cilantro, and onions.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes at 450 degrees until the edges are golden brown.
Using Our Homemade Pizza Dough
This is the only homemade pizza dough recipe I ever use. It is so easy to prepare and, unlike some dough recipes I have tried, it actually tastes delicious! This pizza dough recipe makes enough dough for two large pizzas. You can make two pizzas, make one and freeze one, or use the second to make breadsticks instead.
The dough keeps great in the freezer; just be sure to bring the dough to room temperature again before rolling it out. If you want to use a store-bought pizza crust or use another homemade version (like a cauliflower pizza crust!) that is totally fine too! We’re just a little biased to ours.
Peanut Sauce for Thai Chicken Pizza
Some of our readers asked if they could just use the leftover peanut sauce marinade as the peanut sauce on their pizza. We do not recommend this. The juices from the chicken will make the sauce much more runny than you’d want for a pizza topping. It also isn’t very food-safe.
The pizza won’t be going in the oven long enough to cook out all the bacteria from the raw chicken – that’s why you grill the chicken before putting it on the pizza.
Frequently Asked Questions
You can’t beat the Thai peanut sauce on this pizza, but you can also use chicken on a pizza with buffalo sauce, bacon, gorgonzola cheese, ranch dressing, and onions.
Nope, this is definitely an Americanized thing. Meats on pizza is pretty rare in Italy.
YES! Never add raw chicken to a pizza. You’ll need to cook it, either on a grill, boil or bake, before adding it on top of the pizza.

Equipment
- Outdoor Grill
Ingredients
- 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- ¾ cup House of Tsang Bangkok Peanut Sauce (for the marinade)
Dough
- 1 ½ cups warm water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 (.25-ounce) packet active dry yeast
- 3 ¾ cup flour
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
Peanut Sauce
- ½ cup chicken broth
- 4 cloves garlic, pressed or minced
- 6 tablespoons creamy peanut butter heaping
- 6 tablespoons soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 3 tablespoons minced fresh ginger
- 2 -4 teaspoons sriracha sauce, to taste
Toppings
- 3 cups mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup julienned carrots
- ½ cup bean sprouts
- ½ cup whole peanuts
- ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
- ¼ cup diced green onion
Instructions
- Place chicken in a resealable bag and add Tsang Bangkok Peanut Sauce. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour while the dough is prepared and rising. The chicken can also be marinated and grilled ahead of time.
- Prepare pizza dough by combining water, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes.
- Mix flour and salt together in the bowl of a heavy-duty mixer fitted with a dough hook.
- Add oil to the yeast mixture, then pour the yeast mixture into the flour mixture. Knead on low speed for 10 minutes.
- Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl. Turn the dough over a few times to coat the dough with oil. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Punch the dough down and divide in half. Shape into 2 balls. Lightly brush the dough balls with olive oil and return them to the bowl. Cover again with plastic wrap, and let rise another 45 minutes.
- While the dough is rising the second time, stir together all the sauce ingredients in a saucepan and simmer on low heat for 10 minutes. Set aside.
- Once the sauce is prepared, remove the chicken from the refrigerator and discard the excess marinade. Heat the barbecue grill to 400 degrees F. Grill the chicken for 7 minutes on each side, only turning once. Use a meat thermometer to make sure the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165 degrees F. Allow chicken to sit for 10 minutes, then cut into thin slices.
- Heat oven to 450 degrees F. Light grease a pizza pan or dust it with cornmeal. Take one dough ball and place it in the center of the pizza pan. Using your fingers, pat the dough out from the center to the edge of the pan, with the dough slightly thicker on the rim of the pizza pan.
- Top with dough with prepared peanut sauce, cheese, grilled chicken slices, carrots, bean sprouts, peanuts, cilantro and green onion.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes, until the edges are golden brown.

I adore pizza!!! Thanks for sharing this great recipe!
wow, good
They’re toppings are great and they actually put cheese on the pizza instead of just a scattering of cheese. However the real winner here is the salad. The Chicken Caesar Salad is amazing!!! Probably the best salad I have ever had, however none of the salad dressings are good
This looks yummy! Could you use the peanut sauce that you marinate the chicken in as the sauce for the pizza? You wouldn’t have to worry about chicken juices because it’ll be thoroughly cooked.
I wouldn’t recommend the bottled peanut sauce you use for the marinade for the chicken as the sauce for the pizza. Marinating the chicken in it will make it more runny than you want pizza sauce to be and you will run the risk of the temperature of the pizza not getting high enough to kill any bacteria from the chicken (one of the reasons why the chicken is pre-cooked). The homemade peanut sauce is so delicious – it’s worth the extra steps. Thank you for asking!
I made this a few months back and I’m making it again tomorrow, it’s so good!
I love pizza and all pizza recipes. Thanks for this Thai Pizza recipe. I’ll definitely try it at home.
