Ingredients in White Castle Sliders
These aren’t your ordinary beef patties with cheese! You’ll love the unique flavor that results from combining the following ingredients:
- Ground beef – Use lean ground beef for this slider recipe. A little fat from the hamburger in the meat is okay. It will hold the sliders together better.
- Lipton onion soup mix – This comes in a two-pack in a box. It seasons the meat with a nice, savory onion flavor. You will only be using the dry mixture, so no need to make up the packet.
- Peanut butter – Yes, peanut butter! Just a tablespoon, and trust me on this! If you are really against using the peanut butter, you can just leave it out, but it holds the meat together nicely.
- Milk – Gives the meat a tender and juicy texture.
- Onion – Yellow onion that is finely chopped. You will scatter the onions over the top of the ground beef and bottom buns during the baking process.
- Slider buns – I found mine in the bakery section of the grocery store. You can also use Hawaiian rolls in place of normal dinner rolls, or mini bread rolls.
- Cheese slices – About 10 to 12 Kraft American cheese slices, or any type of cheese you like.
Step by Step Instructions
As I’ve already mentioned, these aren’t your typical cooked patties! It is a great meal to feed a crowd! It’s easy to make a lot of these sliders all at once using these step-by-step instructions. These white castle sliders come together quickly and easily!
- Mix – Mix the ground beef, Lipton onion soup mix, peanut butter, and milk in a large bowl.
- Flatten – Spread the mixture on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Use a rolling pin to roll over the meat to smooth it out over the bottom of the baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes.
- Bake – Take the pan out of the oven, sprinkle the diced onions all around the edges, then bake for 15 more minutes.
- Layer – Remove from the oven, spoon the onions from the edges all over the top of the meat, and layer with cheese slices. Bake another 7 to 10 minutes or until cheese has melted.
- Slice – Slice the cooked patties with a pizza cutter. Place the patties between the slider buns.
- Serve – Add any condiments, pickles, or extras that you like over the patties, slap on the top buns, and enjoy!

Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 (2-ounce) packet Lipton soup mix (1 packet)
- 1 tablespoon peanut butter
- ½ cup milk
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 12 cheese slices Kraft or Velveeta cheese slices work great too
- 12 slider rolls I found mine in the bakery section of the grocery store. You may be able to fit more on depending on the size of the buns.
Instructions
- Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Set aside a baking sheet.
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef. Lipton onion soup mix, peanut butter, and milk.
- Spread the meat mixture on the baking sheet. Use a rolling pin to roll over the meat to smooth it out. Bake for about 10 minutes. The meat will shrink. Put the diced onion all around the edges and bake 15 minutes.
- Remove from the oven, spoon the onions from the edges all over the top of the meat, and layer with cheese slices. Bake another 7 to 10 minutes or until cheese has melted.
- Add the tops of the rolls (the bottom part of the rolls will just sit on the counter.) Bake for about 5 more minutes.
- Remove from oven. Slice the meat into individual sliders with a pizza cutter. Pick up the slider meat and its top bun with a spatula and set it on the bottom bun.
Notes
- I found my slider rolls in the bakery section of the grocery store. You may be able to fit more or fewer buns on the meat, depending on the size of the buns.
- Once you have your cheese sliders baked and cut, you can top them with all kinds of toppings ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, or other condiments; dill pickle slices (you’ll probably want 20-24 dill pickle chips for these, especially if you’re a fan of dill pickle); lime pickles; garlic powder; and a pinch of salt.
I have been making a similar recipe for years, having grown up on Whiteys but then moving to areas where they don’t exist!
This recipe caught my eye, with the peanut butter and milk, so gave it a whirl.
Blended the milk and peanut butter in my bullet to make sure it was mixed well.
Spread the onions on a cookie sheet, meat mixture went on top and then pressed into the onions. Baked as directed.

I’ve eaten a lot of these things in my life, but *never* with cheese and not much since I moved to the west coast 50 years ago. The best ones come from older “Porcelain Palaces” where the grill hasn’t been cleaned in years–you just can’t beat the flavor of the accumulated residue–and the grilled onions and pickle slice.

better than white castle or krystal. My only change was I halved the recipe since I only had 1 pound of ground beef and 9 buns. Also I buttered my top and bottom buns lightly and i placed a dill pickle slice on the bottom bun. Perfection!
I made per directions, next time I will skip the peanut butter. I will also add a little salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce. I think it could use both envelopes of onion soup mix. Next time I will cut in half, too much for 2 people.
I know it says 12 sliders but if you put the buns right next to each other you can get more. Last time it was 20. Depends how much the meat shrinks. So good. I added extra seasoning to the meat. Minced garlic, garlic powder, and a bunch of black pepper. So good.

Pretty darn close to the real deal! I have tried several copy cat recipes and most aren’t even really close to the real thing. We live in Iowa so the closest thing we can regularly get are the frozen ones. These are a great alternative and better than the frozen ones for sure. They’ll definitely keep the cravings at bay until we get back to a city that has a White Castle!

These are great very easy to make I’m not much on leftovers but even tasted fine from the microwave the next day surprising I followed the recipe to the letter an added A little seasoning from my local butcher shop and Small sandwich buns from the deli and local grocery I believe mine turned out way better than any white castle hamburger
Made these tonight, they were ok but not the same taste as a White Castle burger. I didn’t like the onion soup in the meat, gave it an off taste or maybe that was the peanut butter either way these r not just like White Castle. Will try again with our soup mix and peanut butter and add my own seasoning, plus I’ll cook on a flat top and see what happens.
I am using onion powder and better than bullion soup base instead of onion soup mix. Try that next time.
