Pizzas. Quesadillas. Delicious separately, but combine the two and you get magic. Pizzadillas! Cheesy, melty, warm, gooey, and so easy to make.

The Pizzadilla is like a quesadilla, but with pizza toppings on the inside. This versatile food not only can make a great dinner, but a wonderful after school snack! They are so easy to make, even my 8-year can prepare one for herself when she gets home from school. No joke, my kids probably have pizzadillas at least twice a week. So simple, yet so delicious. My kids also love how they can choose what toppings go inside. It’s fun to get creative in the kitchen!

Ingredients to make Pizza Quesadillas including mozzarella cheese, flour tortillas, mini pepperoni and pizza sauce.

Pizzadilla Ingredients

These few easy ingredients are ones we always seem to have on hand:

  • Flour tortillas – soft taco size makes the perfect shape.
  • Mozzarella – shredded, this cheese is perfectly salted and classic!
  • Pepperoni – a classic topping, but you can get creative with you whatever you’d like!
  • Pizza sauce – this is for dipping.
  • Butter – goes in your frying pan to cook the pizzadillas.

How to Make Pizzadillas

  • Step 1: heat your pan or griddle, melt butter over the pan, spreading it over evenly.
  • Step 2: place one tortilla on the heated, buttered pan and sprinkle with ½ cup of cheese.
  • Step 3: add pepperoni (or other toppings) and another ½ cup of cheese.
  • Step 4: top with the second tortilla and allow to cook for 3-4 minutes while the bottom tortilla becomes golden brown.
  • Step 5: flip and cook another 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tortilla is golden brown.
  • Step 6: remove from heat. Slice into 4 ‘pizza slices’ and serve with hot pizza sauce on the side.

Topping Variations

Add any toppings you want! These are some classic combinations:

All Meat – additional pepperoni, sausage, ham, (sometimes bacon!)

Veggie – mushrooms, olives, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, spinach

Supreme – pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers

Hawaiian – pineapple and ham

BBQ – bbq sauce, chicken, bacon, corn, red onion

Single Serving

If you just want to make a single serving, use one tortilla and fold it over. When I’m cooking these, I’m usually making them for multiple kids, so this method is easiest.

Tips and Suggestions

Making multiple: if you are making more than one at a time, using a flat-top griddle is the way to go! It has more surface area for you to work with, making it a lot easier and faster to make way more Pizzadillas!

In a rush: if you are in a rush, don’t turn the heat up on your pan to rush the cooking process! You’ll burn the butter and the tortilla, blech. It won’t take much longer to keep the heat a little lower at a medium heat.

Dips: if you don’t have pizza sauce, pasta sauce also works fine. Another great dip is ranch, you can never go wrong with ranch!

  1. Looks similar to Taco Bell’s Mexican Pizza – which I’ve done before- with corn tortillas and taco fillings and salsa.

    1. Yes, definitely the same idea, but with pizza toppings. I’ve never tried the the Mexican Pizza – sounds like a fun recipe to test. Thank you!
