1ham bone(optional)
1packagedried split peasabout 2 ½ cups or 1 pound
9cupschicken brothif you like it thick, use 8 cups
4carrotscoarsely chopped
3mediumpotatoesdiced small
3celery stalkschopped
1onionfinely chopped
2-3cupsdiced ham
1teaspoonminced garlic
1teaspoonKosher Salt
½teaspoonpepper
1bay leaf
Instructions
If using a ham bone, add it to a LARGE Crockpot.
Add remaining ingredients and cook on low for about 7 to 8 hours or on high for about 5 hours. Discard bay leaf before serving.
Serve with sliced French bread.
Notes
*This makes a LOT (serves 8 to 10) so if you don't have a large crockpot you may consider halving this recipe.
