This Peanut Butter Bark recipe is best no-bake treat for anytime of year. So simple, yet so delicious! I have probably made these five times in the past month, and each time they have been completely devoured. Peanut Butter Bark is a great treat in the summer because you don’t have to heat the house up to make them, but they’re also a perfect dessert to make and give as holiday gifts.
Ingredients in Peanut Butter Bark
The best thing about this recipe is the combination of white chocolate and peanut butter. It reminds me of the flavors and creaminess of a Reese’s White Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, but it’s even better with the crunchy rice cereal and additional chocolate chips and marshmallows. Here’s all you need:
- Ghirardelli white melting wafers – Two 10 ounce bags. I like the Ghirardelli brand but you can use any white chocolate you like. You could also melt vanilla almond bark or white chocolate chips as the base for this recipe.
- Peanut butter – half a cup of your favorite creamy peanut butter.
- Crispy rice cereal – three cups or a little less if you like more of a gooey, less crunchy texture.
- Miniature chocolate chips – about a cup of the tiny semi-sweet chocolate chips. You can also chop up your favorite chocolate candy to add to the bark recipe.
- Miniature fluffy marshmallows – one and a half cups of the little marshmallows.
Additional Ingredients to Try
The beauty of a bark recipe is how versatile it is! For this chocolate peanut butter bark you can add, subtract, mix and match ingredients to make your own delectable dessert! Try these options:
- Mini peanut butter cups
- Reese’s Pieces, chopped
- Dark chocolate chips
- Almonds, Cashews, Peanuts, Pecans, Pistachios, Walnuts
- Sea salt
- Drizzle melted peanut butter chips over the top of the cooled peanut butter bark
Steps to Simple Peanut Butter Bark
All it takes is a few bowls and some stirring patience to make a batch of this delicious peanut butter bark recipe. Here’s all you do:
- First, melt the white chocolate chips with the peanut butter in medium bowl for about 40 seconds. It may look like the chips haven’t melted when it first comes out of the microwave, don’t worry. It’s hot enough.
- Next, use a rubber spatula to stir the the peanut butter mixture until the white chocolate chips are melted.
- Then, pour and stir the crispy rice cereal into the melted chocolate and peanut butter and wait a few minutes until the whole thing comes to room temperature. Don’t put it in the fridge or it’ll harden too quickly.
- Add the mini chocolate chips and marshmallows and stir into the peanut butter chocolate bark until it’s all combined.
- Spread into a prepared baking sheet (either a 9×13 or a similar baking tray) into a smooth layer. Press the mixture down into the pan with a greased spoon or by hand. Be careful to not press too hard, as you don’t want to crush the rice cereal.
- Pop it in the fridge for about half hour until it’s all set. Use a sharp knife to cut into squares and serve!
Make a Great Gift
I keep the ingredients for this peanut butter bark recipe on hand all year round in case I need to whip up a dessert for the kids or when I need to come up with a quick gift for someone. It is also one of my favorite sweet treats to make around the holidays because it is so easy and fast to whip up on a busy day. Equipment
- 9×13 pan
Ingredients
- 20 ounces Ghirardelli white melting wafers (2 bags)
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 4 cups crispy rice cereal
- 1 cup mini chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
Instructions
- In a large, microwave-safe bowl, melt white melting wafers with peanut butter for about 45 seconds. It won't look like it has melted when it comes out of the microwave, but trust me, it's hot enough.
- Just stir together until all the white chocolate wafers are melted.
- Add crispy rice cereal to mixture and wait about 10-15 minutes until the mix has reached room temp. (Don't put it in the fridge, you don't want it to harden quite yet).
- Add mini chocolate chips and mini marshmallows.
- Stir until well combined.
- Grease a 9×13 baking pan. Press mixture down into the pan with a greased spoon or hand (but not TOO hard, you don’t want to smash the rice cereal).
- Place in the fridge for about 30 minutes or until hardened. Cut into squares and serve!
Notes
- Share the wealth! Wrap your treats in cellophane and share with friends and neighbors! This is the gift that keeps on giving.
- Save your homemade treats for yourself; keep in an airtight container and watch them disappear before your eyes.
- Serve a pan of these at summertime picnics, potlucks and barbecues.
- Try adding:
- Mini peanut butter cups
- Reese’s Pieces, chopped
- Snickers or other candy bars, chopped

You could probably use almond butter, cookie butter, or Nutella
What’s the sweetness level? Sounds good, but maybe too sweet?
They are fairly sweet… you can use natural peanut butter (no sugar added) to cut down on the sweetness if you would like!
